Big Brother Jonah
Episode 1: "The Intro"
"I don't want to be looked at as an artist that preaches, "I'm, moreso, a minister that sometimes uses music to reach people that a traditional pulpit wouldn't." -Steven Benson, also known as "Big Brother Jonah"
Steven Benson, born in Houston, Texas and often known by a stage name "Big Brother Jonah," has always had a love for music. His love for music would often get him into trouble at times. When He was in the 2nd grade, the teacher notified his mother that he was giving full concerts at school. He would perform covers of "Me and Misses Jones" by Billy Paul for his classmates. Though the teacher said he was a good student, he seemed inspired to put on his performances, over ….and over again while she was teaching. Seeing the response from this early on, he began to notice the strong pull he had on his audiences.
As fate would have it, he began to surrender his life to God, and became an ordained minister. After changing his direction and message to one of inspiration and hope, he founded Healing Music Ministries. The inspiration came one day from his mother simply asking him," why aren't you using your gift for God?" It was this heart provoking question that lead to the birth of ministry-meeting music. Jonah feels as though God has sent him to give a message of repentance, hope, and love through music.
The mission is clear:
To Inspire. To Encourage. To Relate. To Heal.
